We Have Many Years of Experience in the Field

Hvide Sande Shipyard has many years of experience in the shipbuilding industry. The industry has evolved from focusing solely on fishing vessels to embracing a broader spectrum of activities. We have tackled the challenges and changes head-on, and our innovative and flexible approach has enabled us to thrive in this challenging sector.

Over the years, our field has become more specialised, and the demand for customised, intelligent solutions and alternative fuels has grown.

Our company has evolved to meet these demands, and we now offer a wide range of services, from heritage vessel maintenance to fully electric new builds. We are prepared to meet the challenges of the future and continue providing excellent solutions.

HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • 1950

    Hvide Sande Skibs- og Bådebyggeri (HSSB) was established with a focus on servicing and repairing local fishing vessels.

  • 1952

    The first order has been placed for a new 12-tonne fishing vessel.

  • 1954

    HSSB expands with indoor production facilities.

  • 1970

    HSSB expands with a welding department.

  • 1971

    HSSB delivers the largest fishing vessel so far which requires an expansion of the production facilities.

  • 1980

    HSSB expands the production facilities.

  • 1984

    The first steel vessel is built by HSSB.

  • 1991

    Change of generation.

  • 1993

    We construct and build Fregatten for Tivoli Copenhagen.

  • 1995

    The production of steel and aluminium constructions is being expanded through the acquisition of new production facilities.

  • 1997

    First Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) – M/S Heimdal – is delivered, probably the first in its category specialized in serving the offshore wind industry.

  • 2000

    Production of houseboats and houses is started within our new Seasight subsidiary.

  • 2008

    Strategy changed to focus on three business units:
    – New-build vessels
    – Service, refit and conversion
    – Steel and aluminum constructions

  • 2011

    We deliver “Wind Supplier”, the first 32-metre crew transfer vessel (CTV), to DONG Energy – followed by four more CTVs for the same customer.

    We expand our activities in the offshore wind market by establishing RG Seasight Fenders, which is a leading operator in the production of fender systems for CTVs.

    Seasight Davits is also founded to develop platform cranes for offshore wind farms.

  • 2012

    The expansion of the port of Hvide Sande is completed, allowing larger vessels to enter the port. In cooperation with two local companies, we set up a new agency – Hvide Sande Supply. We also establish a new handling and stevedoring department.

  • 2015

    The company is renamed Hvide Sande Shipyard, Steel and Service – mentioning the three core business areas.

  • 2017

    Change of generation.

  • 2022

    Seasight Group is established. The shipyard and steel businesses have become separate companies, now named Hvide Sande Shipyard and Seasight Solutions respectively. Port services are now provided by Seasight Group.
